We have the following Vintage Kellogg S & S Company ( manufactured
in Chicago IL USA ) ( Model 4883 ) Outdoor Mine Phone available:
The Kellogg name is shown in raised casted iron letters on the front of the cast iron lid opening.
The following numbers ( 2490 ) are shown in raised casted iron numbers on the back side of the cast iron body and the number
4883 is shown in white letters on the inside lid cover.
There are no cracks in the cast iron body and the hinged
lid opens and shuts properly.
The inside of this item is very clean and all the moving parts ( gears , hand crank
, etc .. ) spin and rotate freely.
This
phone weighs 80 pounds and the cast iron body has the following dimensions ( 9" wide X 16" tall X 10" deep
).
This phone has four mounting holes formed into the bodies casting for mounting puposes.
These mine
phones ( Model 4883 ) were made from 1918 and on.
